The Get Out Migration marched on with a flotilla, walk and rally in Vancouver on 25th October. Salmon Are Sacred had 100 people in canoes pulling together for wild salmon as we journey down the Fraser River.
See here for more details.
The Fraser River Ripple Effect traveled throughout the Fraser River Basin in it's innagural Ripple Relay. In the season when spawning sockeye salmon travel upriver, the FRRE aims to create a public platform to draw people together in support of the Fraser River salmon runs. It was a 31 day long cycle adventure of the entire Fraser River Basin. The 2010 "Wild Salmon Express"(WISE) traveled though every community in the Fraser Basin, connecting with community leaders, First Nations, MPs, MLAs, local government representatives, and salmon enthusiasts of all sorts, stopping in at various points of interest including hatcheries, dams, stream contamination sites, paved streams and discovery centres. From August 1 through 31 Michelle and her team cycled nearly 4000 km. through the various communities of the Fraser River Basin.

Every year Clifford de Schepper participates in the Great Walk, but this year it is cancelled so he is doing it alone. He accepts pledges, and then donates it to a charity he feels needs it. Clifford is running all 63.5km from Gold River to Tahsis, and this year he is giving the money he raises to the Pacific Coast Wild Salmon Society (Adopt-a-fry/Salmon Are Sacred). Please give by making a pledge to this worthy cause, in support of Clifford and our efforts here.
If you give a pledge, you can also enter a contest. The person who can guess the closest finishing time for Clifford's run will win a $75 gift certificate to Romeos restaurant. Clifford's est. running time is 7:30-8:00hrs. To submit you pledge and your guess, contact:

Dear friends,
Jenny and I are no exception to the rule:
"If you do something special, you draw attention that you can use for a good cause."
In 2006 we were able to support 19 children in Africa, in 2007 we picked up a lot of money for Right to Play and SOS Children's Villages. Then it became a little quiet, because cycling around Sardinia and Sicily not something special. Not something very special in our eyes at least.
This is changing now! Not everyone bicycle from Vancouver, on Vancouver Island, to Skagway, Alaska and Yukon by then, on the Dempster Highway to Inuvik, right?
This time we want to ask you to help us support a project that likes to protect the wild salmon.
Along the west coast of Canada there is a lot of wild salmon, which is threaten by farmed salmon. What is wrong? Along the coast of British Columbia in open water, salmon is farmed . They come in contact with wild salmon and brings about diseases. Thereby threatening the wild salmon to disappear. This not only affects people who like wild salmon to stay on this planet, but also for wildlife (including bears) that need the salmon to live. www.salmonaresacred.org) en wordt geleid door een Canadese biologe Alexandra Morton.">The project to save the salmon is called Salmon Are Sacred (www.salmonaresacred.org) www.salmonaresacred.org) en wordt geleid door een Canadese biologe Alexandra Morton."> and is led by a Canadian biologist Alexandra Morton. She did a walk in April / May on Vancouver Island to draw the attention to the above problem. You can read about everything on that website. Very interesting is a video about Alexandra Morton, click here to view it.
How can you help?
The organization is costly in order to finance lawsuits against the Canadian state. They already have some success, but the battle is not won, commerce (farmed salmon) has considerable influence on Canadian political leaders.
For $ 25 you already sponsor a salmon. But one salmon is not enough! So the more sponsored salmon, the better course!

Here you can see how many salmons are saved. When we start in Vancouver, we want hand the total amount to Alexandra Morton.
As in 2006 and 2007 we again rely on a lot of supporters to help us with this initiative.
Warm regards, Jenny and Kees Vonk
