Everyone Loves Wild Salmon, Don't They?

Paddle for Wild Salmon: Hope to Chilliwack

Date:
Wednesday, October 20, 2010 - 08:00 - 16:00

Venue: Departing Telte Yet Campground in Hope, to Cheam Beach, and on to the Skwah community in Chilliwack at Lower Landling Road.

Hope for Wild Salmon!

The Paddle for Wild Salmon down the Fraser River begins in Hope.

We will depart in our canoes at 8:00-8:30 am and plan on arriving at Cheam Beach in Chilliwack at around one pm where we are meeting with members of Cheam First Nations band and will rest our arms.
At 2:00 pm we depart again, headed for Skwah First Nations community in Chilliwack.

This promises to be an exciting start to the paddle!
You are invited to bring your home-made salmon signs and banners.
The paddlers will journey down to Vancouver for a rally on October 25th (see here for details). The rally is on the opening day of the Cohen Commission hearings. Let's send a message to the Commission and our provincial and federal governments that wild salmon come first!

We thank the Chawathil, Cheam, Skwah, and the Sto:lo Nations For graciously hosting us on their territory and for celebrating Wild Salmon with us.

If you are interested in paddling for wild salmon, please contact Elena Edwards (oceananele@hotmail.com) or Don Staniford (dstaniford@puresalmon.org). There is room for 160 paddlers.
