Everyone Loves Wild Salmon, Don't They?

Fraser River Migration - via canoe!

April 13, 2010 by Megan Adams

Launch date: April 28th, 2010

Contact: Elena Edwards - oceananele@hotmail.com

This group will be paddling the length of the Fraser River, collecting petitions through towns as they migrate, and meeting up with Alexandra in Sidney for her final walk into Victoria on the 8th.

Elena writes:
"The Launch:

We will be launching from Hope around 11am or 12 pm on April 28. Grand Chief Clarence Pennier and maybe Chief Ron John will host a blessing and ceremony for us before we launch.

We will likely paddle 7-8 hours to camp at Cheam Beach (just waiting for confirmation from the Cheam Band) where others who want to join the paddle from there can do so.

On the 29th we will paddle to Mission, where we will stay in town. Joel Bakan (author of the Corporation) will be in town as well as the Gallus Brothers. We are working to see if we can create/combine and event in praise of wild salmon.

We will leave Mission on the 30, and any new paddlers can join us from there to do the stretch to Maple Ridge, or tired paddlers can get off."
If you are interested in joining this Migration or collecting petitions in your Fraser River town or community, please contact Elena - - oceananele@hotmail.com.
